Introduction

What was life really like for Frank McCourt during the Depression in Ireland?

The purpose of this web quest is to help you gain a deeper knowledge of the life and times of Frank Mc Court during the 1930’s. Through your research, you will explore how the social/cultural, religious, economic, political, health, and domestic issues of this time period greatly impacted the people of Ireland.




The Task
You will be searching various web sites to collect information on a topic specific to the task you are assigned. You need to work cooperatively together with members in your group and complete the following requirements:
  • Each member within your group will research one of the issues stated above
  • Each group member will use the information gathered to design a poster, PowerPoint, or Brochure (Word Publications).
  • Your group will be required to present the information you gathered to the rest of the class.

The Process

To accomplish the task, what steps should you take?
  1. First, you'll be assigned to a team of 3-5 students.
  2. Once your group has decided which topic you will cover, you will be responsible for researching that topic.
  3. To begin your research, click on the link below to gather the information you need. Feel free to use information, pictures, etc. from other sites also.
  4. After you feel comfortable with the amount of information you have obtained, you are ready to create your project.
  5. To design your project, you may use graphics from magazines, draw your own pictures, and web site images. This is your chance to be creative so use your imagination!
  6. When everyone in your group has finished, you are ready to present to the class.


NOTE: If others in your group are having difficulty finishing, this is the time to help your group accomplish your goal!
